Preparation Tips for SPMCIL Assistant Manager 2026

  • Professional Knowledge carries the highest weight (90 out of 150 marks) — prioritize deep preparation of your core discipline (HR laws & concepts, Accounting & Finance standards, Materials/Supply Chain Management, IT/programming fundamentals, Hindi-English translation practice, or Industrial Safety norms, as applicable to your post)
  • The remaining 60 marks (General Awareness, English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude) are common to all posts — a steady daily current affairs habit and basic reasoning/aptitude practice can secure most of this section
  • Negative marking is 1/4th per wrong answer — avoid guesswork on questions you’re unsure of, since incorrect attempts pull down your score more than skipping does
  • Remember that the online exam is only 75% of your total score — a strong performance in Professional Knowledge interviews (technical depth, work experience articulation) is equally critical for the remaining 25%
  • Since the qualifying bar for interview differs by category (45%/40%/35%) but the ratio is 1:4, competition within your own category matters more than the overall cutoff — aim well above the minimum to stay competitive
  • Keep all documents (educational certificates, experience letters, category certificates) organized and verified in advance, since eligibility verification happens only after qualifying the exam — a documentation gap at that stage can undo exam success
