How Your Final Merit Rank Is Calculated (Composite Weightage Formula)

  • RIE CEE final selection is NOT decided by the entrance test score alone
  • NCERT uses a composite weightage formula: 60% weightage from your RIE CEE score + 40% weightage from the aggregate marks of your qualifying examination (Class 12th, Graduation, or Post-Graduation, depending on the programme applied for)
  • This is why candidates were required to update their qualifying exam marks on the portal by 10 July 2026 — this data directly feeds into your final merit computation
  • Even a strong CEE score cannot fully offset a low qualifying-exam percentage, and vice versa — both components matter for your final rank

How to Calculate Your Expected Score Using the Answer Key

  • Download the Final Answer Key PDF and your Response Sheet from the portal
  • Match each of your marked answers with the correct answer given in the key
  • Apply the official marking scheme (as specified in the RIE CEE 2026 Information Brochure) to calculate marks obtained and any negative marking, if applicable
  • Remember: your raw CEE score is only 60% of your final merit weightage — factor in your qualifying exam percentage (40% weightage) to estimate your likely composite rank

What Happens After the Result — Next Steps

  • Step 1: Final Answer Key Release (Awaited)
  • Step 2: Result & Merit List Declaration (Based on Composite Score — 60% CEE + 40% Qualifying Marks)
  • Step 3: Counselling Registration & Choice Filling (Institute/Programme Preferences)
