Note: Since there are two separate exam dates for the two cadres, a candidate is eligible to appear for only the cadre for which they applied and qualify.

Nationality & Basic Eligibility

• Candidate must be an Indian citizen
• Candidate must be mentally and physically fit, without any health condition that could interfere with efficient discharge of duties
• A living person with more than one spouse, or a woman married to a person who already has a spouse living, is not eligible for appointment without prior Government exemption

Educational Qualification

About Kalyana-Karnataka Local Cadre Reservation

• Locate the link for Surveyor Recruitment 2026 (General/RPC cadre or Kalyana-Karnataka cadre, as applicable) and click “New Registration”
• Register with basic details (Name, Mobile Number, Email ID) to generate login credentials

Probation, Training & Service Conditions

• Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years from the date of appointment
• During probation, all Surveyors must undergo a Compulsory Kannada Training (“Kadaya Kannada Tarbeti”) for a period of 6 months as part of the departmental Surveyor training scheme
• Candidates must pass the departmental Surveyor training exam — minimum 35% in the theory examination and 40% in the practical examination — to be confirmed in service
• Candidates who fail to appear or fail in the training examination may be given further opportunities as per rules; the probation period of Surveyors who fail is not treated as “successfully completed” and disciplinary/service rules apply
• Confirmed employees who are unsuccessful in training may face termination as per the Karnataka Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1957

KEA Surveyor 2026 Preparation Strategy — Tips

• Balance both papers equally — both Paper-I and Paper-II carry 100 marks each, so General Knowledge cannot be neglected in favour of the technical paper
• Mathematics is the single biggest scoring area in Paper-II at 40% weightage — focus on Number System, Algebra and Geometry (especially theorems, mensuration, and circle geometry), which form the bulk of school/pre-university level maths
• Modern Surveying + Computer Applications together form 40% of Paper-II — candidates from a Diploma/Engineering background should specifically revise GPS/GNSS, DGPS, RTK-CORS concepts, AutoCAD basics, and open-source GIS tools, since this is a technical, job-specific segment less familiar to general aspirants

• Conduct field-level cadastral surveys of agricultural and non-agricultural land using both traditional chain/plane-table methods and modern GNSS/DGPS/Total Station equipment
