BMC Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026 — Overview

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC/MCGM), Labour Department, has released Advertisement No. Kr.Prakaa/585/MC dated 11 August 2026 for the recruitment of 612 Trade Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961, following approval from the Municipal Commissioner (Ref. No. MGC/0673 dated 16.06.2026). Trainees will be engaged for a one-year training period across various departments, divisions, and hospitals of BMC. This recruitment is being organised in collaboration with the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, Maharashtra, and the Assistant Apprenticeship Advisor (Technical), Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training, ATI, Mumbai, through a walk-in recruitment mela to be held on 20 and 21 August 2026.

Note: The stipend is admissible as per applicable government guidelines and may be revised from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria — BMC Trade Apprentice 2026

  • Educational Qualification: Must have passed the SSC (10th) examination or an equivalent/higher examination with Marathi as a 100-mark subject
  • Must have passed all levels/semesters of the relevant ITI examination in the applied trade
  • Domicile: Candidate must be a resident of Maharashtra State
  • Age: Trainee’s age must not be less than 14 years (as per the Apprentices Act, 1961); maximum age limit as per applicable government decision
  • Physical Fitness: A certificate of physical fitness issued by BMC’s Medical Examiner must be submitted
  • Police Character Verification: Must be submitted within a maximum of 2 months from the date of commencement of training
  • Candidates should not have already undergone or currently be undergoing Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices Act, 1961

  • Only candidates who have passed ITI from Maharashtra State should first visit apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and log in
  • Under “Apprenticeship Opportunities,” select MCGM (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) as the organisation
  • Fill out the physical application form (Marathi format, as prescribed) and gather all required self-attested documents

Selection Process — BMC Trade Apprentice 2026

  • Candidates will be selected based on the highest marks obtained in their final-year ITI examination, along with applicable social and parallel reservation norms
  • If two or more candidates secure equal marks, priority will be given based on seniority by date of birth (age)
  • Where sufficient candidates are not available under social/parallel reservation, selection will proceed with the next eligible candidates by merit
  • The selected trainees’ list will be published on the official MCGM website
  • Selected candidates will be called for original document verification, followed by an online offer through the apprenticeship portal
  • Once the candidate accepts the offer, an online Model Contract of Apprenticeship Training will be executed with them
  • After the online contract is completed, candidates will be sent to their respective department/division/hospital for training, subject to medical examination and character verification
  • If a selected candidate does not accept the offer within 7 days, the selection will be cancelled and the next candidate on the merit list will be considered — no request/appeal will be entertained thereafter

Important Terms & Conditions

  • No Employment Guarantee: As per Section 22 of the Apprentices Act, 1961, BMC is not obligated to absorb trainees into regular Corporation service after completion of their training. Selected candidates must submit an undertaking confirming they will not claim a right to permanent employment on this basis
  • Selected candidates will be engaged as trainees at any office within BMC’s jurisdiction and must be willing to work in all three shifts (Shift Duty) as per the Corporation’s requirements after joining
  • The Model Contract of Apprenticeship Training, once executed, cannot be cancelled without the approval of the Assistant Apprenticeship Advisor (Technical)
  • If a candidate is found not fulfilling the prescribed eligibility conditions at any stage — before or after selection, or even after appointment — their apprenticeship/appointment will be cancelled without prior notice, and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard
  • If any information furnished by the candidate is found false, incorrect, or suppressed at any stage, their training/appointment will be terminated, and the cost of training may be recovered as applicable
  • BMC does not provide residential accommodation to trainees during the training period
  • Married women candidates applying under their post-marriage name must submit marriage registration proof and the relevant Government Gazette copy
  • The Municipal Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, reserves the right to postpone, modify, or cancel the recruitment process at any stage for administrative or other reasons
