Who Is Eligible to Apply? (Important — Read Carefully)

  • Only regular employees having lien in East Coast Railway (including erstwhile Waltair Division/SCoR), EXCEPT RPF/RPSF, can apply
  • This is NOT a general/open market recruitment — candidates who have resigned or transferred out of East Coast Railway are NOT eligible
  • Employees working in a lower grade/pay scale than the GDCE post are eligible for all notified categories
  • Employees in the same grade/pay scale are eligible only for GDCE from Non-Safety to Safety category posts, and Safety to Safety category posts
  • Candidates must intimate their Controlling Authority/Department for a “No Objection” before applying, and get their filled application forwarded by their controlling officer in hard copy, uploading the signed scanned copy as a mandatory supporting document

Selection Process 2026

  • Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) — single stage, post-specific pattern & syllabus
  • Stage 2: Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) — for ALP & Station Master only; Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for Junior Clerk cum Typist
  • Stage 3: Document Verification (DV) — number of candidates called equals number of vacancies, based on merit
  • Stage 4: Medical Examination — as per prescribed medical standard for each post

Important Points

  • Negative marking in CBT: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer (all posts); NO negative marking in CBAT
  • Shortlisting for CBAT/CBTST is done to the extent of 8 times the number of vacancies, category-wise
  • Minimum qualifying percentage in CBT: UR-40%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)-30%, SC-30%, ST-25% (relaxable by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of shortage against reserved vacancies)
  • Merit for ALP: 50% weightage to CBT + 50% weightage to CBAT
  • Merit for Station Master: 70% weightage to CBT + 30% weightage to CBAT
  • Tie-breaking: older candidate ranked higher; if same age, alphabetical order (A-Z) of given name is used
  • Normalization of marks (percentile-based methodology) is applied for multi-shift CBT exams as per RRB Chairpersons’ notice dated 09.02.2026

CBAT Qualifying Standards — Key Points

  • CBAT candidates (ALP & SM) shortlisted to 8 times the vacancies per community, based on CBT merit
  • Minimum T-Score required: 42 marks in each test battery/section separately — no relaxation in T-Score for any category
  • Vision Certificate & self-declaration (as per Annexure-I/J) must be produced in original at CBAT, failing which candidates will not be permitted to appear
  • Candidates who have undergone LASIK or other corrective eye surgery are NOT eligible for posts requiring Medical Standard A-1/A-2 (e.g., ALP, Station Master)
  • It is mandatory to clear each test battery/section of CBAT separately to qualify

  • Click on the link for GDCE 2026 Online Application (Notification No. ECoR/Pers/RRC-GDCE/2026)
  • Fill in personal details/bio-data carefully; a single online application covers multiple post preferences
  • Intimate your Controlling Authority for “No Objection” and get the printed application forwarded by your controlling officer
  • Upload the scanned signed application (forwarded copy) as mandatory supporting document, along with photograph (JPEG, 100 DPI, up to 100 KB) and scanned signature (JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 10-40 KB)
  • Enter IPAS ID, HRMS ID, and Date of Birth carefully — these are needed for downloading Call Letters later
  • Verify all details and click Register — no changes are allowed once registered; duplicate applications will not be entertained
  • Download and print the filled application (PDF) and acknowledgement after submission

Documents Required for Application 2026

  • Passport size colour photograph (not older than 3 months, JPEG format)
  • Scanned Signature (in running handwriting, not block letters)
  • Self-attested certificates for date of birth, educational/technical qualification
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST as per Annexure-C, OBC-NCL as per Annexure-D), if applicable — not older than 1 year at Document Verification for OBC-NCL
  • OBC-NCL Self-Declaration (Annexure-E) confirming non-Creamy Layer status
  • PwBD Certificate, if applicable, along with Scribe-related annexures (G, G(a), H) if using a scribe
  • Printed & controlling-officer-forwarded copy of the application (signed, scanned, and uploaded)

Note: All original documents with two sets of self-attested photocopies must be produced at Document Verification. Certificates must be in English or Hindi (translated versions accepted otherwise).

Important Warnings & Malpractice Rules

  • Impersonation or use of unfair means results in lifetime debarment from all RRB/RRC exams, dismissal if already appointed, and legal prosecution
  • Banned items in exam hall: mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, pen drives, laptops, calculators, wrist watches, wallets, belts, shoes, metallic ornaments, etc.
  • Self-declaration paragraph on e-Call Letter must be written, signed, and thumb-impressed ONLY at the exam venue in front of the invigilator — writing it in advance or signing in CAPITAL letters leads to rejection
  • No request for change of exam centre, date, session, mobile number, or email address will be entertained at any stage
  • RTI applications seeking information will not be entertained until the entire recruitment process is complete
  • Legal jurisdiction for any disputes lies with the Central Administrative Tribunal, Cuttack
