Skill Test / Stenography Test Pattern (JPA & Stenographer)

  • Shorthand dictation of a passage at 60 words per minute for 5 minutes
  • Transcription of the dictated passage on computer within 30 minutes (with compensatory time for PwBD candidates as applicable)
  • Dictation must be taken in Pitman’s shorthand strokes — longhand note-taking is not permitted, and transcripts based on longhand are not evaluated
  • Every omission of a word or figure, and other errors as defined in the official notification, are counted as full mistakes
  • Shortlisting for the skill test is done in a ratio of up to 1:5 against category-wise vacancies, with a minimum of 10 candidates called per category
