🔴 Notification Highlights

• BHEL, Tiruchirappalli has released three separate circulars, all dated 14 August 2026, for engaging apprentices across Trade (380), Technician (60), and Graduate (90) categories — totaling 530 tentative vacancies for 2026-27
• This is a fully online recruitment with no application fee for any category
• Candidates must complete a two-step registration — first on the relevant Government of India apprenticeship portal, then on the dedicated BHEL Trichy portal
• Vacancy numbers are tentative and may increase or decrease across any trade/discipline entirely at the management’s discretion
• Priority is given to Tamil Nadu candidates — only candidates who passed their qualifying exam from a government-recognised institution in Tamil Nadu will be considered first; other-state candidates are considered only if suitable Tamil Nadu candidates are unavailable for a branch
• Upon completion of the apprenticeship, BHEL has no obligation to offer employment, and apprentices cannot claim any employment right on the basis of completing training

Trade Apprentice — Trade-Wise Vacancy & Stipend (380 Posts)

Qualification: High School pass + ITI pass (Regular Full-Time) in the notified trade from an NCVT/SCVT-recognised institute. NCVT/SCVT certificate required for all trades except Welder, for which only NCVT certification is considered.

Technician Apprentice — Discipline-Wise Vacancy (60 Posts)

Qualification: High School pass + Diploma in Engineering (Regular Full-Time), completed within the last five years, with minimum 60% marks for UR/OBC(NCL)/EWS and 50% for SC/ST candidates. Stipend: ₹10,900/month (Consolidated).

Graduate Apprentice — Discipline-Wise Vacancy (90 Posts)

Qualification: 10+2 + Regular Full-Time Graduation in the specified discipline, with minimum 60% marks for UR/OBC(NCL)/EWS and 50% for SC/ST candidates. Stipend: ₹12,300/month (Consolidated). Candidates who have completed a Post-Graduate qualification (even integrated PG) are NOT eligible as per NATS process manual.

• Minimum Age: 18 Years | Maximum Age: 27 Years (General Candidates) — uniform across all three categories

Age Relaxation

• SC/ST: 5 Years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
• Physically Challenged (Min. 40% Disability): 10 Years

Educational Qualification & Eligibility — Category-Wise

• Passing Year Restriction: Technician and Graduate Apprentice candidates must have completed their Diploma/Degree in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 only
• Candidates who completed their qualification through Distance Learning/Part-Time/Correspondence/Sandwich courses are NOT eligible for any of the three categories
• Candidates already undergoing or who have previously completed apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act in any other establishment are NOT eligible to apply again
• For Graduate Apprentice specifically, candidates with a Post-Graduate qualification (even an integrated PG course) are not eligible, per the NATS process manual
• For Trade & Technician categories, candidates with 1 year or more of work experience are not eligible to apply

Reservation (All Three Categories)

• SC: 19% | ST: 1% | OBC (NCL): 27% | EWS: 10% | Physically Challenged: 4%
• Reservation for dependents of regular BHEL employees (Serving/Retired/Deceased) is governed as per Company rules

Tamil Nadu Domicile Preference — Important

Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from a Government-recognised academic institution located in Tamil Nadu will be considered first for selection. Vacancies for any branch/trade will be opened up to candidates from other states only if suitable Tamil Nadu candidates are unavailable for that particular branch. Candidates from outside Tamil Nadu should factor in this preference before applying.

How to Apply — Two-Step Online Process

Step 1: Register on the Government Portal

• Trade Apprentice candidates: Register at the RDSDE (NAPS) Portal — www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. Click “Register” → choose “Candidate” → fill personal details → note the generated 10-digit unique Registration Number → activate your account via the email link sent to you
• Technician & Graduate Apprentice candidates: Register at the MHRD NATS 2.0 Portal — nats.education.gov.in → note your 12/16-digit Student Enrolment Number
• Aadhaar verification and e-KYC (with bank details/IFSC code) are mandatory on the government portal — ensure your name, DOB, and gender match your Aadhaar and SSLC/10th certificate exactly to avoid discrepancies

Step 2: Apply on the BHEL Trichy Portal

• Visit trichy.bhel.com and click “Apprenticeship Application Portal (TRICHY)”
• Click “Register” from the menu, read the instructions carefully, and click “I agree”
• Fill in the registration form and submit by clicking “REGISTER”
• An OTP will be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number — use it to create a new password
• Log in with the new password and complete the application form, entering your Government portal Registration/Enrolment Number where required
• Upload all required scanned documents as per the specified size and format
• Review the form carefully, then submit the application and save a copy for document verification

Documents Required (Common for All Categories)

• Scanned copy of latest colour passport-size photograph
• Scanned copy of signature
• 10th Standard mark sheet
• Consolidated mark sheet of the prescribed educational qualification (ITI/Diploma/Degree, as applicable)
• Community Certificate — SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PWD, as applicable (OBC-NCL/EWS certificate must not be older than one year)
• Aadhaar Card
• Screenshot of your profile home page from the respective Government portal (NAPS or NATS), showing your Registration/Enrolment Number
• Bank passbook front page — as uploaded on the Government portal; must be Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled

Warning: Applications missing any single document, or containing blurred/edited/incorrect documents, will be summarily rejected.

Selection Process 2026-27

• Selection is based purely on merit drawn from marks secured in the qualifying examination (ITI for Trade, Diploma for Technician, Degree for Graduate) — there is no separate written test or interview
• In case of a tie in marks at the selection stage, the candidate older in age will be preferred
• Selected candidates must fulfil the minimum physical fitness standards as specified under Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 (and amendments thereof)
• Candidates must be registered with a valid BOAT/NATS 2.0 Student Enrolment Number (Graduate/Technician) or RDSDE/NAPS Registration Number (Trade) to be considered for training

Important Points to Remember

• No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for document verification or for joining the apprenticeship training upon selection
• All future communication will happen only through website/email/SMS alerts — candidates must keep an active email ID and mobile number valid for at least the next one year
• Canvassing in any form will render a candidate ineligible
• Upon completion of the apprenticeship period, BHEL has no obligation to offer employment, nor can an apprentice claim any right to employment on the ground of having completed the apprenticeship
