Eligibility Criteria — Technician Apprentice

• Candidates who acquired Degree/Diploma before April 2022 are NOT eligible
• Final-year students, result-awaiting candidates, or those pursuing M.E/M.Tech are NOT eligible
• Candidates who have already undergone/currently undergoing Apprenticeship under Apprentices Act 1961, or having 1+ year experience from any institution as Apprentice, are NOT eligible
• Combining apprenticeship with other institutions is NOT permitted
• Candidates must join within 5 years of passing their qualification (as per certificate) — if this 5-year window lapses while empanelled/waitlisted, they will not be considered
• Where a University mentions both CGPA and percentage, at least one criterion must meet the eligibility norm
• CGPA-to-percentage conversion is NOT permitted for determining eligibility, even if the University prescribes a conversion formula
• Priority will be given to candidates from recognised Universities/State Boards under BoAT’s Southern Region (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry); other regions considered only if shortage of applications in a discipline

Documents to Carry for the Selection Drive (25 July 2026)

Candidates must visit the VSSC pavilion at Karthika Thirunal Govt V&GHSS for Girls, Manacaud, along with ORIGINAL documents and self-attested copies of:

• B.E/B.Tech/Bachelor in Hotel Management/Non-Engineering Graduation/Diploma Certificate (Provisional/Final)
• Consolidated Mark List (Provisional/Final) for the above qualification
• SSLC/SSC/AISSE/ICSE Certificate — as proof of Date of Birth
• Experience Certificate, if any
• One passport-size photograph
• If SC/ST: Copy of valid Community/Caste Certificate issued by Tahsildar (Taluk Office)
• If OBC: Copy of valid Non-Creamy Layer Certificate, issued by Tahsildar in prescribed GoI format (Annexure 1)
• If EWS: Copy of valid Income & Asset Certificate for FY 2026-27, in GoI format (Annexure 2)
• If PwBD: Certificate of Disability issued by competent authority

Selection Process 2026-27

• Step 1: Document scrutiny at the VSSC pavilion, Karthika Thirunal Govt V&GHSS, Manacaud, on 25 July 2026
• Step 2: Candidates found eligible are given the Application Form to fill on the spot
• Step 3: Selection is based purely on the highest marks scored by candidates in their qualifying examination (Degree/Diploma), with due weightage to reservation categories
• Step 4: A merit panel is prepared, valid for the 2026-27 training year
• Step 5: Induction against the 2026-27 training positions is strictly based on the candidate’s position in the panel, subject to availability of vacancies and validity of the panel

Note: There is no separate written test or interview panel round mentioned — selection is document-based and marks-based at the walk-in drive itself. No interim correspondence will be entertained, and any form of canvassing will lead to disqualification.

How ISRO/DoS Apprenticeships Work — General Context for Applicants

VSSC’s apprentice drive follows the same broad framework used across other ISRO/Department of Space units (like ISTRAC, SAC) for their 2026 apprenticeship cycles:

• All apprenticeships across ISRO Centres run under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Amendment Act, 1973
• Registration on the NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) portal is a standard requirement across ISRO units — VSSC requires this immediately after induction rather than before applying
• Stipend structures are fairly uniform across ISRO Centres — Graduate Apprentices typically get ₹12,300/month and Diploma/Technician Apprentices around ₹10,900/month, in line with what other ISRO units (SAC, ISTRAC) have also announced for 2026
• Across ISRO, apprenticeship training is explicitly stated to NOT guarantee permanent employment — this is consistent at VSSC, SAC, and ISTRAC alike
• No application fee is charged anywhere in the ISRO apprenticeship ecosystem, including at VSSC

Why this matters for you: If you’re not shortlisted at VSSC or the vacancy count doesn’t suit your discipline, keep an eye on similar walk-in/apply drives at other ISRO units (SAC-Ahmedabad, ISTRAC-Bengaluru, URSC, etc.) — they run largely independent, parallel recruitment cycles with similar eligibility and stipend norms.

• Carry ORIGINAL certificates + self-attested photocopies — incomplete document sets risk on-the-spot rejection
• Double-check your CGPA/percentage against the discipline-specific cut-off (65% for engineering, 60% for Hotel Mgmt/General Stream)
• If claiming OBC/EWS/SC-ST/PwBD benefits, ensure certificates are in the exact prescribed format (Annexure 1 & 2 attached to the official notification)
• Verify you fall within the 5-year window since your qualification’s passing date — this single rule disqualifies many otherwise-eligible candidates
