Calculation of Percentage

The degree percentage as provided by the university/college will be considered. Where CGPA/GPA or a letter grade is awarded, the equivalent percentage should be indicated as per norms adopted by the University/Institute, and a supporting certificate must be obtained (required at document verification). Where no official conversion is available, percentage is calculated by dividing total marks obtained across all semesters/years by total maximum marks. The resulting fraction is ignored — i.e., 49.99% is treated as less than 50%.

Eligibility Requirements — At a Glance

• Only candidates registered and approved on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS 2.0) web portal and by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) will be considered for selection
• Candidates already engaged as an Apprentice, or undergoing apprenticeship elsewhere with an existing apprenticeship contract under the Apprentices Act, 1961 on the NATS Portal, are NOT eligible to apply
• Candidates with one year or more of work experience are not eligible
• Only ONE application is allowed per candidate — multiple applications will be rejected
• Candidates can select only ONE State of Training preference in the application form
• Applications submitted on the HPCL Portal after 31 July 2026 will not be considered

HPCL Graduate Apprentice 2026-27 — State-Wise Training Slots (358 Total)

Selection Methodology 2026-27

• Stage 1: Screening of applications based on merit percentage (aggregate marks) as per eligibility criteria, prescribed qualification for the trade, and the number of training slots notified
• Stage 2: Shortlisted candidates called for Document Verification in order of merit, in a ratio of 1:5 with respect to notified training slots (via registered email)
• Stage 3: Final merit list prepared from candidates who report for document verification and are found suitable
• Stage 4: Engagement in merit order — subject to accepting the tri-partite apprenticeship contract on the NATS website, submission of a medical certificate in prescribed format, and police verification

Important Points

• There is no Computer-Based Test (CBT) or interview for this apprenticeship engagement — selection is purely merit (percentage)-based followed by document verification
• Incomplete or ineligible applications will be summarily rejected without intimation
• No TA/DA is paid for appearing in the document verification process

HPCL Apprentice 2026-27 — Job Profile & Training Exposure

• Civil Engineering Apprentices: Exposure to civil infrastructure works at HPCL installations — depots, terminals, LPG bottling plants, retail outlet construction/maintenance standards, and site engineering practices
• Mechanical Engineering Apprentices: Hands-on exposure to pipeline systems, storage tank maintenance, pumping systems, LPG bottling plant machinery, and mechanical maintenance protocols
• Electrical Engineering Apprentices: Training in electrical systems of depots/terminals, power distribution, motor control, and safety systems in a hazardous-area (oil & gas) environment
• Instrumentation Engineering Apprentices: Exposure to process instrumentation, control systems, automation, and measurement/metering systems used across HPCL’s marketing infrastructure
• Training is conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961 framework, structured as per NATS guidelines, and is intended purely for skill-building — it is not a recruitment/employment guarantee

Benefits of Completing HPCL Apprenticeship

• Apprentices who successfully complete the training are accorded relaxation/preference in HPCL’s future recruitment norms, in two ways:
  • Age relaxation: to the extent of the apprenticeship period undergone, not exceeding one year
  • Grace marks: additional 5% of marks secured in a future Computer-Based Test (CBT), reckoned along with CBT marks for shortlisting in subsequent recruitment
• Structured one-year exposure to a Maharatna PSU’s marketing operations, useful for future PSU/private sector applications
• Important: Mere successful completion of apprenticeship does NOT accord any right of recruitment/selection at HPCL, apart from the relaxations mentioned above. HPCL gives no commitment/assurance of permanent or temporary employment after the apprenticeship period.

General Conditions & Terms of Engagement

• Engagement is governed by the Apprentices Act 1961 / Apprentices Amendment Act, 1973 and Rules thereof
• Engagement as Apprentice Trainee (Engineering) is for a period of ONE YEAR only
• No housing assistance or any allowance other than the fixed monthly stipend of ₹25,000/- will be provided
• Furnishing wrong/false information will lead to disqualification; training will be terminated if discrepancies are detected even after engagement
• Canvassing in any form during any stage of the engagement process will lead to cancellation of candidature
• Candidates already holding an apprenticeship contract with any other organization on NATS are not eligible; HPCL verifies this post-joining and will terminate the apprenticeship without stipend if found otherwise
• Email ID and mobile number provided must remain valid for at least one year; pseudo/fake email IDs will attract legal action
• All communication will be sent only via registered email — no hard copies will be sent to candidates
• No changes to category (GEN/SC/ST/OBC-NC/PwBD) will be entertained once submitted in the online form
• HPCL/Management reserves the right to raise minimum eligibility standards, modify the selection process, restrict the number of candidates called for document verification, and cancel/curtail/enlarge the engagement process at any stage without assigning any reason
• Candidates must remain updated at each step of the selection process by regularly visiting the NATS/HPCL Portal

HPCL Apprentice 2026-27 — Preparation & Application Tips

• Since selection is percentage-based (no CBT/interview), your aggregate engineering marks across all semesters/years are the single most important factor — calculate your accurate percentage/CGPA conversion in advance using your university’s official formula
• Complete your NATS 2.0 registration and BOAT approval well before applying — this is a mandatory prerequisite, not a post-selection formality
• Choose your State of Training preference carefully — it cannot be changed later, and slot availability (e.g., Maharashtra-64, UP-37, Gujarat-32) varies significantly by state
• Keep scanned copies of Photograph, Signature, and category certificates (in prescribed format and size) ready before starting the online form to avoid errors mid-application
• Double-check that your caste/category certificate matches central government notified lists exactly — mismatched spellings are a common rejection reason
• Since verification happens in a 1:5 ratio of merit, keep all original documents and self-attested photocopies organized in advance for a smooth document verification process
• Apply early within the 15–31 July 2026 window — avoid last-day portal congestion
