What Is Normalisation and Why Is It Necessary?

When an exam is conducted across multiple shifts/days, the difficulty level of the question paper can vary slightly from shift to shift. To balance this out, the Board applies a Normalisation formula, so that no candidate in any shift gets an unfair advantage or disadvantage. The Normalised Score is the actual score used to prepare the final merit list and cut-off — not the raw score.

Qualifying Criteria — Written Exam (As per Official Notice)

  • Minimum 35% marks required in each subject
  • Minimum 50% aggregate marks required across all subjects combined
  • Important: Candidates who did not secure the above minimum qualifying marks will be treated as failed in the written exam — even if their normalised score is equal to or higher than the cut-off marks of the last selected candidate in any category
