Eligibility Criteria

• Candidate must hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a UGC-recognized university, in a subject covered under CG SET
• Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD): Minimum 50% marks required in Master’s degree
• Final-year postgraduate students are also eligible to apply, provisionally, subject to producing proof of having passed with the required percentage at a later stage
• Candidate must generally be a domicile/resident of Chhattisgarh, as per department rules — refer to the detailed notification for the exact residency requirement
• No upper age limit applies for CG SET

Application Fee

Profile Registration & Application Process Notes

• A Profile Registration facility is available on the portal — once registered, candidates need not re-enter personal details for each exam applied for; details auto-populate from the Profile
• No caste, DOB, local residence, educational qualification, disability, or ex-servicemen certificates are collected at the application stage — such certificates are not verified at this stage. CGSSB is not responsible for the accuracy of information the candidate provides
• If an error is made while filling the application, candidates get 3 days after the closing date to correct it online themselves
• Results are generated strictly based on the information filled by the candidate — no correction is possible after the correction window closes
• After successful fee payment, click “SUBMIT” to finalize the application, and download the printout for safekeeping

Exam Pattern 2026 — Paper I & Paper II

• Paper-I is common/compulsory for all candidates, regardless of subject — it tests teaching & research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness
• Paper-II is entirely based on the subject chosen by the candidate at the postgraduate level
• All questions are Objective/Multiple-Choice type

Qualifying Criteria — How Results Are Declared

As per the official notification, the result declaration standard is as follows:

The Top 6% of appearing candidates who take both Paper-I and Paper-II, and secure:

• At least 40% aggregate marks in both papers combined — for General Category candidates
• At least 35% aggregate marks in both papers combined — for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwBD, and Transgender candidates

— will be declared qualified for eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor, following the reservation policy of the State Government. This qualifying criterion is final and binding.

Exam Day Guidelines & Documents Required

• Reach the exam centre at least 2 hours before the exam start time for identity verification and frisking
• Main gate closes 30 minutes before exam start — for Paper-I (starting 10:00 AM), gate closes at 9:30 AM; for Paper-II (starting 2:00 PM), gate closes at 1:30 PM
• No entry allowed after the time mentioned on the admit card, under any circumstances
• Items to carry: Printed Admit Card, Black or Blue Ball-Point Pen, and original Photo ID Proof (Voter ID/Driving Licence/PAN Card/Aadhaar Card)

Objection Process on Provisional Answer Key

• Log in with your Registration Number (Profile ID) and Date of Birth to raise an objection within the notified window after the exam
• Objection fee: ₹50/- per question (payable online) — objections without fee payment are not valid
• Objections must be raised individually for each question — multiple questions objected together in a single submission will be rejected
• Objections without supporting proof will be rejected; objections via post/email or in-person submission are not accepted
• Subject experts’ decision is final and binding — the final answer key will be prepared accordingly
• A question may be deleted (voided) for: incorrect question structure, no correct option, Hindi-English translation mismatch causing no valid option, or a printing error — all candidates get equal bonus marks for such deleted questions
• No re-scrutiny/re-evaluation of OMR sheets is possible, since evaluation is done by OMR machine; no further claim/objection is entertained after the final answer key is released along with the result

• CGSSB’s responsibility is limited to conducting the exam and declaring results — document verification, certificate authentication, and actual recruitment/appointment as Assistant Professor is handled separately by the concerned university/college/appointing authority, not by CGSSB

Preparation Strategy

• For Paper-I, practice teaching/research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, and general awareness questions regularly — since this paper is common for all subjects and can be a strong scoring opportunity
• For Paper-II, revise your postgraduate subject thoroughly, since it carries double the weightage (200 marks) of Paper-I
