Age Relaxation

• Persons with Disability (Divyang): 10 years relaxation in maximum age limit (per General Administration Dept. resolution 962, dated 22.01.2021)
• SHSB Departmental Employees: 5 years relaxation as per Human Resource Rules-2021, subject to minimum eligibility criteria being met
• Only one relaxation (either PwD or departmental) is admissible to a candidate — the two cannot be combined

Selection Process & Merit Marking Scheme 2026

Selection is entirely merit-based — there is no written exam or interview. Total marks = 100, distributed as follows:

• If MBBS marks are recorded as Grade/CGPA, the percentage will be converted as per the university’s own conversion formula; if no formula exists, a flat 50% will be assumed as the minimum eligibility mark
• For candidates with foreign medical degrees, marks will be calculated from the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) score × 0.6, and MCI/NMC registration is mandatory
• Final merit list is prepared category-wise after successful document verification

Tie-Breaking Rule in Merit List

• If two or more candidates score equal marks, the elder candidate (by date of birth) ranks higher
• If age is also equal, the candidate with higher educational qualification ranks higher
• If still tied, seniority is decided by alphabetical order of name as per Class 10th certificate

Reservation Rules — Key Points

• Reservation benefit is applicable only to candidates who are permanent/domicile residents of Bihar — candidates from outside Bihar are not eligible for any reservation category
• Not claiming reservation in the online form means no reservation benefit will be given later — the permanent address entered in the application is treated as final for reservation purposes
• Women (WBC): 35% horizontal reservation for women of Bihar domicile across all categories (Unreserved + Reserved), as per GAD resolution 12575 dated 09.07.2025
• Divyang (PwD): 4% horizontal reservation, admissible only to Bihar-domicile bench-marked disability candidates with a valid disability certificate of minimum 40% disability
• Freedom Fighters’ Grandchildren: 2% horizontal reservation for grandchildren of state-recognized freedom fighters receiving central pension
• OBC/EBC candidates must submit a non-creamy-layer certificate; candidates whose certificate is more than 1 year old must submit a self-declaration (Form XVIIIB) confirming continued non-creamy-layer status
• EWS candidates must submit an Income & Asset Certificate valid for 1 year from date of issue, in the prescribed format
• Reservation category, once entered in the online application, cannot be changed during the recruitment process

• Go to the “Human Resource” section and click on “Advertisement”
• Open Advt. No. 03/2026 — Walk-In Recruitment Drive for Specialist Doctors — and read the full notification and Terms of Reference (TOR) carefully
• Click the online application link and complete registration
• Fill in personal details, qualification details, category/reservation claim, and select up to 3 preferred districts for posting (in order of priority)
• Upload a recent (within 3 months) passport-size colour photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG/PNG format
• Fill in all certificate/marksheet numbers and issue dates in the prescribed columns — any document not mentioned in the form will NOT be accepted later at verification
• Carefully review all entries — no correction facility is available after submission
• Submit the application and download/print a copy for your records; keep it safely until final appointment

District Preference & Posting — How It Works

• Applicants can choose up to 3 preferred districts in order of priority at the time of online application
• Post-selection, posting is done against First Referral Units (FRUs) in the chosen districts, subject to merit rank and vacancy availability
• Final decision on district and programme allocation rests solely with the State Health Society, Bihar
• A district-wise vacancy break-up (Annexure-1) is attached with the official advertisement — candidates should check it before finalising their district preferences

Job Stability & Contract Terms — Key Points

• Engagement is purely on a contractual basis for a minimum of 11 months
• Contract can be extended up to the age of 60 years based on satisfactory performance, subject to the post being approved under NHM’s Record of Proceedings (RoP) and funds being available
• Contractual employees are NOT treated as government servants and are not entitled to any government-servant benefits
• No claim for regularisation into government service will be entertained after contractual engagement, at any point in time
• Communication mode is only Email/SMS — candidates must keep their registered email ID and mobile number active throughout the process
