The COVID-19 Experience Marks — Read This Carefully
This is a 2026-specific element that most candidates miss entirely. Additional marks are awarded to medical and para-medical personnel who served on a temporary, contractual, or outsourced basis during COVID-19 (March 2020–June 2021). Experience must be in the same designation/post applied for and certified by the institution head. No additional marks are given for higher qualifications.
If you did COVID duty as a pharmacist under Punjab Government in that period, get the experience certificate from your institution head now — not after the exam. This document takes time to obtain and must be in the prescribed format. Punjabi Language Test — The Silent Disqualifier
As per Punjab Government Notification No. GSR72/Const./Art.309/Amd.(22)/2022 dated 28.10.2022, candidates must pass a qualifying test of Punjabi Language equivalent to Matriculation standard with at least 50% marks, to be conducted by the respective recruitment agency in addition to the competitive examination. Failure to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the Punjabi Language test will disqualify the candidate from being considered in the final merit list irrespective of their scores in other papers.
Exception: War heroes discharged from defence/paramilitary services on account of disability (or their widows/dependents appointed under Government instructions) are exempt from the Punjabi language requirement.
Many B.Pharm graduates from outside Punjab — particularly from Haryana or Himachal Pradesh who studied in Punjab colleges — are eligible to apply but overlook this test. Scoring 89/90 in the written paper and failing the Punjabi test means elimination. Treat it as mandatory, not optional.
Tie-Breaking Rule
In case candidates obtain equal marks in the written examination, preference will be given to the candidate who is older in age.

One Practical Mistake to Avoid
Many candidates apply under the General category assuming their B.Pharm marks or Pharm.D degree will give them an edge in merit. The university has indicated that no additional marks are given for higher qualifications. A Pharm.D holder and a D.Pharm holder compete on the same 90-mark written exam. Holding a higher qualification does not add to your score. So if you are eligible for a reserved category — SC, BC, EWS, or others — apply under it. Not necessarily in terms of eligibility — D.Pharm holders are eligible to apply.
