Education Qualification

Candidates must possess a Degree in Science / Arts / Commerce / Business Management / Computer Applications / Business Administration from a recognized University, with:

• Minimum 55% marks in aggregate for General Category & Other Backward Category candidates
• Minimum 50% marks in aggregate for Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe candidates
• Working knowledge of computer operation is mandatory for all candidates

Selection Process & Exam Pattern 2026

Selection to the post of Second Division Assistant is made on the basis of a Competitive Test (90 minutes) followed by an Interview, as per the High Court of Karnataka Service Rules, 1973 & 1984.

• Candidates are called for the Competitive Test based on their percentage of marks in the qualifying examination, in merit order, in the ratio of 1:10 (10 candidates per notified vacancy) within each reserved category
• Candidates who clear the Competitive Test are called for Interview in the ratio of 1:5 (5 candidates per notified vacancy) within each reserved category
• If two or more candidates score an equal percentage in the qualifying exam, the older candidate is placed higher in the merit order

Probation Period

The appointed candidate will initially be on probation for a period of two years, or for an extended period if necessary.

• Locate the online application link for “Second Division Assistant Recruitment 2026” on the recruitment/notification section
• Register with your basic details and generate your login credentials
• Fill in all required particulars carefully in the online application form
• Upload your recent colour photograph (5cm × 3.6cm, max 50KB, JPG, white background, without signature) and scanned signature (2.5cm × 7.5cm, max 25KB, JPG, signed in black ball-point pen)
• Mention all reservations you are claiming in a single application — do not submit multiple applications
• Pay the prescribed application fee online through the SBI payment gateway
• Download and retain a copy of the submitted application and the fee payment receipt until the recruitment process is complete
• Submit the application well before the last date — 11 September 2026, 11:59 PM — to avoid last-minute technical issues

• SSLC or equivalent Certificate as Date of Birth Proof
• Caste Certificate (issued specifically for Employment Purpose — certificates issued for education or scheme benefits are NOT accepted)
• Income Certificate (for Employment Purpose, where applicable)
• Rural Candidate Certificate — Form-2 along with Form-1 (for candidates claiming Rural reservation under General Merit)
• Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) Certificate issued by Competent Authority (where claimed)
• Ex-Servicemen / Widow Certificate issued by Competent Authority (where claimed)
• Kalyana Karnataka Region (371-J) Eligibility Certificate — for candidates applying under HCRB/SDA-5/2026 (KKR)
• No Objection Certificate (NOC) — mandatory at the time of selection for candidates already employed in Central/State Government or PSUs, as per Rule 11 of the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977

Note: All certificates must be obtained on or before the last date prescribed for submitting the online application. Original documents must be produced at the time of document verification — any discrepancy between the online application and originals will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Place of Posting

Candidates appointed to the post of Second Division Assistant are liable to be posted at the High Court of Karnataka, Principal Bench at Bengaluru, or at the Benches at Dharwad and Kalaburagi, as per organisational requirement.

Important Instructions for Candidates

• Applications with incorrect, false, or incomplete information are liable to be rejected
• Candidates presently employed with Central/State Government or a PSU must correctly declare their in-service status in the application
• Data entered in the online application (caste/reservation claims, etc.) is treated as final — no requests for modification will be entertained afterwards
• Merely attending the Competitive Test/Interview does not confer any right to appointment
• Candidates attempting to obtain extraneous support from any official or non-official source will be disqualified
• If any information is later found false, or eligibility criteria are not met, or material facts are suppressed, the candidature (or appointment, if already made) will be cancelled/terminated, and the candidate may also face criminal prosecution
• In case of any discrepancy between the Kannada and English versions of the notification, the English version will prevail
