Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has released the CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification for the engagement of 139 Graduate and Technician (Diploma) Apprentices under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973.

The recruitment includes 61 Graduate Apprentice and 78 Diploma Apprentice seats across various engineering and commercial practice disciplines.

Only Kerala domicile candidates who passed their qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 are eligible to apply.

Stipend — CSL Apprentice 2026

Eligibility Criteria — CSL Apprentice 2026

  • Domicile: Only candidates who are domicile of Kerala will be considered — this is a strict eligibility requirement for this recruitment
  • Qualifying Years: Candidates must have passed their qualifying examination during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026
  • Age: Above 18 years as on 01.09.2026
  • Previous Training: Candidates who have already undergone, or are currently undergoing, apprenticeship under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 in any Government, Public Sector, or Private organisation are NOT eligible to apply
  • Reservation: Government of India directives on reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD will be strictly followed
  • Nationality: Only Indian Nationals need apply
  • Physical Standards: As prescribed in Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules 1992 and its amendments

Minimum Educational Qualification — Category-Wise

  • Category-I (Graduate Apprentices): A Degree in Engineering/Technology from a Statutory University, or from an Institution empowered by an Act of Parliament, in the relevant discipline; OR a Graduate examination of Professional bodies recognised by the State/Central Government as equivalent
  • Category-II, Sl. No. 1–6 (Engineering Diploma): A Diploma in Engineering/Technology from a State Council/Board of Technical Education, a University, or an Institution recognised by the State/Central Government as equivalent, in the relevant discipline
  • Category-II, Sl. No. 7 (Commercial Practice): A Diploma in Commercial Practice granted by an Institution recognized by the State or Central Government
  • Candidates with equivalent qualifications must submit an Equivalency Certificate issued by the competent authority — without this certificate, their candidature will not be considered
  • CGPA Conversion: Where the University/Institute/Examination Board does not define a conversion criterion, Aggregate Grade Points shall be multiplied by 10 to arrive at the required percentage of marks

CSL Apprentice Selection Procedure 2026

  • Only candidates who are domicile of Kerala will be considered for shortlisting
  • Shortlisting is done based on the percentage of marks obtained in the basic prescribed qualification for the respective discipline
  • In case of a tie in marks, relative merit is decided based on seniority in the year of passing; if the passing year is also identical, precedence goes to the candidate senior in age (by date of birth)
  • Shortlisted candidates must bring original certificates (age, qualification, marks percentage, caste, disability if any) along with self-attested copies for verification — candidature is considered only on the strength of original certificates; failure to produce originals leads to rejection
  • Candidates who successfully complete certificate verification will be provisionally selected against the notified training seats in order of merit/reservation, subject to medical fitness
