• Online Registration Start: Immediately — via apprenticeshipindia.org (ITI) or nats.education.gov.in (Degree/Diploma)
• Last Date to Apply Online: 26 August 2026
• Age Reckoning Date: 31 August 2026
• Eligibility Cut-Off (Passing Years): 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 & 2026 only

Note: Applications will NOT be accepted without prior registration on the respective Government portal (apprenticeshipindia.org for ITI Trade Apprentices; nats.education.gov.in for Degree/Diploma Graduate-Technician Apprentices). Register early, since portal-side technical issues near the deadline are common across similar SAIL/PSU apprentice drives.

Eligibility Criteria — Recap

• Candidates who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates only are eligible
• Candidates who passed the qualifying exam in the last 5 years (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026) only are eligible
• Candidates whose results are not yet declared/available as on the last date of application are NOT eligible
• Candidates who have already undergone/currently undergoing apprenticeship training under any establishment, or have 1+ year job experience, are NOT eligible
• Age Limit: Minimum 18 years, Maximum 28 years, as on 31 August 2026
• Reservation: As per Govt. of Odisha guidelines, with applicable age relaxation

Mandatory Pre-Application Registration

• For Trade Apprentices (ITI): Register on apprenticeshipindia.org
• For Graduate/Technician Apprentices (Degree/Diploma): Register on NATS portal — nats.education.gov.in
• Active email ID and mobile number required — valid for at least the next 1 year (all future communication is via email only)
• Bank account must be DBT-enabled with KYC verified
• Candidate is wholly responsible for the correctness of information submitted online
• Take a printout of the submitted online application for future reference

How to Apply — Step by Step

A) For ITI/Trade Apprentices:

• Register as candidate on apprenticeshipindia.org
• Log in → go to “Apprenticeship Opportunity” → search Establishment Name “SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant”
• Click “Apply” for your prescribed trade against the vacancies shown
• Application will NOT be accepted without registration and applying through the portal

B) For Degree/Diploma (Graduate/Technician) Apprentices:

• Register as a student on nats.education.gov.in
• Log in → go to “Establishments Requests” → click “Find Establishments”
• Select “Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant”
• Apply in your passed-out engineering/other branch as shown on the portal
• After successful online application, eligible candidates walk in as per the schedule below

Selection Process & Merit Formula

• Selection is via shortlisting on academic merit through the walk-in process — no separate written exam
• Weightage Formula: 30% weightage to Class-X marks + 70% weightage to Degree/Diploma/ITI marks, as applicable
• Marks in the qualifying exam must be mentioned in percentage — CGPA holders must convert to percentage as per their Board/University norms (verified at document verification)
• Incomplete or erroneous applications submitted after the last date will be rejected, with no further communication
• Canvassing of any kind leads to disqualification

Merit Calculation Example: If your Class-X percentage is 82% and your ITI/Diploma/Degree percentage is 75%, your merit score = (82 × 0.30) + (75 × 0.70) = 24.6 + 52.5 = 77.1. This weighted score, compared category-wise against other applicants for the same trade/discipline, decides your selection.

Action Plan — What To Do Right Now (18 July 2026)

• Step 1 (This Week): Identify whether you fall under Trade Apprentice (ITI) or Graduate/Technician Apprentice (Degree/Diploma) category based on your qualification
• Step 2: Register immediately on the correct portal — apprenticeshipindia.org (ITI) or nats.education.gov.in (Degree/Diploma) — don’t wait till the last week of August
• Step 3: Ensure your bank account is DBT-enabled and KYC-verified now, since this is mandatory and can take a few days to process with your bank
• Step 4: Convert your CGPA to percentage as per your Board/University’s official formula and keep it documented, in case your marksheet only shows CGPA
• Step 5: Apply on the portal for “SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant” under your trade/branch well before 26 August 2026
