Selection Process — Step by Step

  • Stage 2 — Written Test: 2 Hours, Objective Multiple Choice Type, 150 total marks; final merit is prepared solely on marks obtained here
  • No Interview is conducted for these Group ‘C’ posts — selection is purely on Skill/Physical/Practical qualification + Written Test merit
  • Candidates who do not qualify the Skill/Physical/Practical test will not be permitted to appear for the written test

    • Carrying a man (fireman lift) of 65.5 kgs to a distance of 183 meters within 96 seconds
    • Clearing a 2.7 meter wide ditch, landing on both feet (long jump)
    • Climbing a 3 meter vertical rope using hands and feet
  • Fire Engine Driver must additionally be physically fit and pass the same physical fitness/height/chest/weight standards as Fireman

Physical Endurance Test — Tradesman Mate (Labour)

  • 1.5 Km run in 6 minutes (general)
  • Carrying a weight of 50 Kgs to a distance of 200 meters in 100 seconds
  • ESM Category Relaxation by Age Band: Below 40 years — 1.5 Km in 7 min 45 sec (431 sec) and 50 Kgs/200m in 2 min (120 sec); 40–45 years — 1.5 Km in 7 min 48 sec (468 sec) and 50 Kgs/200m in 2 min 10 sec (130 sec); Above 45 years — 1.5 Km in 9 min 22 sec (562 sec) and 50 Kgs/200m in 2 min 40 sec (160 sec)

How to Apply — Step by Step (Offline Application Process)

  • Type or neatly handwrite your application strictly in the format (Proforma) given in the official notification
  • Mention only ONE post/trade applied for — applying for multiple trades leads to rejection of all applications
  • Fill in all personal details: Name, Mobile Number, Email ID, Aadhaar Number, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Correspondence & Permanent Address, Educational Qualification (with % marks table), Gender, Category, and Ex-Servicemen details (if applicable)

  • Affix a recent passport-size photograph (self-attested) on the application, and enclose two additional self-attested photographs separately — mobile printouts/selfies are NOT accepted

Envelope Colour-Coding Rule (Very Important)

On top of the application cover (envelope), candidates must write their overall percentage in Matriculation/equivalent in capital letters, using a specific colour of ink based on the percentage range:

  • RED INK — for percentage less than or equal to 50%
  • BLUE INK — for percentage from 51% to 60%
  • BLACK INK — for percentage above 61%

Rounding Rule: Decimal value less than 0.5 is rounded down; 0.5 or above is rounded up (e.g., 48.49% rounds to 48%, and 50.50% rounds to 51%). For CGPA, use (CGPA × 9.5%) or Grade A = 90–100% (minimum % counted).

Warning: Using the wrong colour ink for your percentage bracket, or not writing it at all, can be a ground for improper processing of your application — follow the Appendix-I format exactly.

Category-Specific Requirements

  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS Candidates: Must submit legitimate certificates issued by the competent authority as prescribed under DoPT O.M. No. 36039/1/2019-Estt (Res) dated 31.01.2019
  • OBC Candidates: Must additionally give an Undertaking in the format specified as Appendix-IV, declaring they do not belong to the Creamy Layer
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): Must submit ESM certificate issued by Competent Authority, self-attested copy of Discharge Certificate, and an Undertaking as per Appendix-III

Important Instructions & Points to Remember

  • No TA/DA is admissible for appearing in the Skill/Physical/Practical or Written Test — candidates must arrange their own lodging/boarding
