BPSC DSO / AD Selection Process — Full Recap

• Stage 1 — Preliminary Examination: A 2-hour objective test on General Studies worth 150 marks; candidates must clear minimum qualifying marks (e.g., 40% for General category); around 10 times the vacancies are shortlisted for Mains
• Stage 2 — Main (Written) Examination: Subjective exam consisting of General Hindi (100 marks, qualifying in nature), General Studies-I & General Studies-II (300 marks each), and one optional subject — Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics (300 marks); minimum qualifying marks apply for each paper
• Stage 3 — Interview: Conducted for candidates who clear the Mains, carrying 120 marks; approximately 2.5 times the vacancies are called for interview
• Final Merit List: Prepared based on the combined Mains + Interview marks; Prelims marks are not added to the final merit
