RCF Kapurthala Apprentice Vacancy 2026 — Trade-Wise & Category-Wise

Eligibility Criteria — Age Limit

Minimum Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have passed the 10th class examination or its equivalent (under the 10+2 system) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, from a recognized Board
• Candidates must also possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the notified trade, issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT)

CGPA-to-Percentage Conversion (If Applicable)

Where a candidate’s Class 10 result is in CGPA form, the percentage is calculated by multiplying the CGPA by 9.5. For example, a CGPA of 7.4 converts to 70.3% (7.4 × 9.5). This percentage is then entered against “Marks Obtained in Xth Class” (with “Maximum Marks in Xth Class” filled as 1000, and “Marks Obtained” filled proportionally, e.g., 700). The final combined percentage used for merit is the simple average of the Matriculation percentage and the ITI trade percentage — for example, 70% (Matric) and 80% (ITI) average out to 75%.

Mode of Selection — How the Merit List Is Prepared

• Selection is based on a merit list prepared from all eligible candidates who apply against the notification — there is no written examination
• Merit is calculated as the simple average of: (a) percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate), and (b) percentage of marks in the ITI trade for which apprenticeship is sought
• For Matriculation percentage, marks obtained across all subjects are considered — not marks of any single subject or group of subjects
• For ITI percentage, marks mentioned in the provisional/final ITI certificate are considered
• In case two candidates have equal marks, the older candidate is preferred; if dates of birth are also identical, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier is considered first
• A final merit list is prepared trade-wise and community-wise, equal to the number of slots, in descending order of percentage
• Call letters/document scrutiny are issued to 1.5 times the identified slots
• Vacant slots arising from non-turned-up or medically unfit candidates are filled strictly in merit order from the waiting list, which remains valid for 1 month from the date training commences

Application Fee

Reservation for PwBD and Ex-Servicemen

• 4% of total seats are reserved for Persons with Disabilities
• 3% of total seats are reserved for Ex-Servicemen, their children, and children of Armed Forces personnel
• PWD candidates must produce a disability certificate from a competent authority (Medical Board constituted by Central/State Government); disability must not be less than 40%
• Candidates not covered under the above PWD definition must not apply as PWD, and will not be eligible for such concessions

• Follow the detailed instructions provided on the website for filling up the online application
• Log in and carefully fill personal details/bio-data as required
• Ensure your name, father’s name, and date of birth exactly match your Matriculation (or equivalent) certificate — any deviation found during Document Verification leads to cancellation and debarment
• Provide an active mobile number and valid email ID — all important messages will be sent by SMS/email and treated as deemed read
• Upload a scanned passport-size color photograph (3.5cm × 3.5cm, not older than 3 months, JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, file size 20 KB–70 KB, clear front view without cap/sunglasses)
• Upload a scanned signature (3.5cm × 3.5cm, JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, file size 20 KB–30 KB)
• Verify all entered details carefully, then pay the application fee online within 2 working days of form submission
• Keep a printout of the completed application, since it must be produced at the time of Document Verification if shortlisted

Important: Candidates submitting more than one application with different particulars (name, father’s name, community, photo, qualification, email ID, or mobile number) will have all such applications summarily rejected.

Training Period, Stipend & Medical Fitness

• Training period and stipend are as per the extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time
• No hostel accommodation will be provided — selected candidates must make their own arrangements during training, as per the Apprentices Act, 1961; they will be released on completion of training
• Candidates called for Document Verification must produce a Medical Fitness Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-A), signed by a Government-authorized doctor (Gazetted) not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central/State Hospital
• Minimum physical standards include: Height 137 cm, Weight 25.4 kg, Chest expansion not less than 3.8 cm (irrespective of chest size), among other health parameters covering vision, hearing, cardiovascular, respiratory, and skeletal fitness
• Imparting training does not confer any right to absorption/employment in Railways after successful completion of the apprenticeship, as per the Apprenticeship Rules, 1991

Important Points to Note

• The decision of the Railway administration on all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance, or rejection of application and mode of selection shall be final
• Candidates must enroll with an Employment Exchange (except wards of RCF/Kapurthala employees), since engagement of Act Apprentices is sourced from candidates registered with the nearest Employment Exchange
• Candidatures found erroneously engaged despite not fulfilling eligibility will be summarily dismissed without notice
• If wrong/fake certificates are furnished, the Railway administration reserves the right to discharge the candidate at any stage, even after selection to undergo training
• No daily/conveyance/travelling allowance is paid to candidates called for Document Verification
• Canvassing in any form disqualifies the candidature, and no correspondence will be entertained regarding it
• Result will be declared within 45 days of closure of receipt of applications; Document Verification/scrutiny is to be completed within 1 month of result declaration
