PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) Reservation

• PwBD reservation applies on a horizontal basis across all categories, only for Graduate Apprentice and Trade Apprentice–Data Entry Operator (Fresher & Skilled) disciplines
• PwBD candidates are NOT eligible for Discipline Codes 101–111 (Technician and ITI Trade Apprentice posts), given the hazardous nature of the industry
• A minimum of 40% benchmark disability certified by a competent authority is required, as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016
• Eligible PwBD categories: PV (Low Vision/Blind), PH (Hard of Hearing/Deaf), PL (Musculoskeletal/Dwarfism/Acid Attack Victim/Cerebral Palsy/Leprosy Cured), and MD (Multiple Disabilities — combination of the above)
• Candidates registered with Local/State Employment Exchange(s)/Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for PwBD must apply only through the NAPS/NATS portal

Stipend Details 2026

• Stipend shall be paid as per the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961, and the Apprentices Rules, 1992 (as amended)
• In addition to the statutory stipend, IOCL (MD), NR pays ₹2,500/- per month extra towards miscellaneous expenses
• For Graduate & Technician Apprentices, part of the stipend is credited directly via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT); an Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account is mandatory
• Trade Apprentices (NAPS apprentices) receive their full stipend directly from IOCL (MD), NR
• Stipend structure is subject to change as per Government/BOAT/NAPS guidelines issued from time to time

Selection Process 2026

• No Written Test / No Interview — selection is purely merit-based
• Merit list prepared based on percentage of marks secured in the prescribed qualification for the applied post
• Tie-breaker rule: candidate with an earlier date of birth (older in age) ranks higher; if DOB is also same, higher matriculation percentage is considered
• Preference given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time
• Shortlisted candidates are called for Document Verification followed by a Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness Test
• Up to ₹3,000/- reimbursed for expenses incurred during pre-engagement medical tests/investigations, on production of receipts
• Only candidates clearing both document verification and medical fitness are issued the final Offer of Engagement

Application is a TWO-STEP process — both steps are compulsory:

• Step 1 — Register & Apply on NAPS/NATS Portal (as applicable to your discipline):
  • Trade Apprentice (ITI) → NAPS Portal: apprenticeshipindia.gov.in
  • Trade Apprentice – Data Entry Operator → NAPS Portal
  • Technician Apprentice (Diploma) → NATS Portal: nats.education.gov.in
  • Graduate Apprentice → NATS Portal
• Login using your User ID/Email ID and apply against IOCL (Marketing Division)–Northern Region using Establishment ID: NATS – NDLSDC000005 / NAPS – E05200700003
• Ensure your profile (Personal, Educational, Category details, aggregate %) is 100% complete and correct before applying
• Step 2 — Submit the Microsoft Office Form with your details, preferred State, and three preferred locations, latest by 6 September 2026, 5:00 PM, via: forms.cloud.microsoft/r/pw7D2cUK7c
• Submit only ONE Microsoft Form response — multiple submissions are not entertained
• Apply for only ONE Discipline Code — applying for more than one leads to summary rejection of all applications
• No changes are permitted in the application after final submission — verify all details carefully before submitting

Requirements Before Applying

• Valid and active Apprentice Registration/Enrolment Number on NAPS or NATS portal (as applicable)
• Active email ID and mobile number, valid for at least 1 year — all communication happens only via email/SMS
• Valid PAN Card and Aadhaar Card
• Active bank account with chequebook, in the candidate’s own name
• Bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled — verify at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in (Aadhaar seeding) and npci.org.in (DBT status)
• APAAR ID and e-KYC verification completed and updated on the NATS portal

Documents Required at Document Verification

• Matriculation (Class X) Mark sheet/Certificate — the ONLY acceptable proof of age
• Latest Caste Certificate (for reserved category candidates) in the Government-prescribed proforma
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate — must be issued on/after 01.09.2025 (i.e. not more than 12 months old as on 31.08.2026 cut-off)
• Institute certificate confirming regular-mode study and year of passing
• Semester-wise/Year-wise mark sheets of ITI (NCVT/SCVT) / HSC / Graduation / Diploma in Engineering
• Final ITI Certificate / HSC / Graduation / Diploma Certificate issued by the respective Board/Authority/Institute
• Copy of Bank Passbook (first page, Aadhaar-seeded account), Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, and a cancelled cheque leaf
• Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness Certificate

Important Eligibility Conditions to Note

• A candidate may undergo a maximum of two apprenticeship trainings, and the second cannot be in the same trade, with a minimum 1-year gap between the two (conditions apply for terminated contracts)
• Candidates who have already completed 5 years in the relevant discipline (as on 31.08.2026) since acquiring the qualification are NOT ELIGIBLE, whether applying under NAPS or NATS
• Candidates holding higher qualifications (B.E./MBA/MCA/CA/ICWA/LLB or equivalent, completed or in progress) are NOT eligible — a declaration is taken at joining
• Diploma/Vocational Certificate holders with 1 year or more of job experience after qualifying are not eligible
• Qualification must be through regular full-time mode only — distance/correspondence education renders a candidate ineligible
• Diploma students admitted via lateral entry (2nd year) are eligible, subject to meeting the prescribed aggregate percentage
• Candidates whose apprenticeship contract is already approved on the NATS portal cannot get a second contract created by BOAT (NR), even if the earlier one is later terminated

Preparation & Application Tips for IOCL Apprentice 2026

• Since there is no exam or interview, your qualifying-degree percentage IS your merit score — there is nothing left to “prepare” for except accuracy in documentation
• Double-check your NAPS/NATS profile before applying — incorrect percentage, category, or personal details can disqualify an otherwise eligible candidate
• Choose your discipline code carefully — since only one application is allowed, pick the discipline matching your highest qualification and best chance of merit
• Keep all documents scan-ready — Matric marksheet, final degree/ITI certificate, category certificate, Aadhaar, PAN, and bank passbook copy — to avoid last-minute issues at document verification
• Get your bank account Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled well in advance, since stipend disbursal depends on it
• Submit the Microsoft Form immediately after NAPS/NATS registration — missing this second step means your application will not be considered even if the portal application is complete
• Choose location preferences wisely — while preferences are considered, final posting depends solely on IOCL’s requirement
