Freeze vs Float — Which Option to Choose?

Option What It Means
Freeze You are satisfied with the allotted college & branch. Pay fee, complete document verification, and your admission is locked — you exit further counselling rounds.
Float You keep the current allotted seat as backup but remain in the running for a better college/branch in the next round (Round 4). Fee still needs to be paid to retain the seat.
Important: Candidates who did NOT get any seat in Round 3, or who want to try for an upgrade, remain eligible to participate in Round 4 & 5 (choice filling 27–29 July 2026).

Seat Acceptance / Counselling Fee

Government / Government-Aided Institutes Approx. ₹3,000 (adjusted against college admission fee)
Private/Self-Financed Institutes 50% of prescribed tuition fee + ₹250 online portal charge
Payment Mode Online via MOPS (Multiple Option Payment System) — Net Banking / Debit / Credit Card / UPI
Note: Fee once paid is non-refundable if the seat is withdrawn after acceptance. Please cross-check the exact updated amount on the payment page at the time of transaction, as fee structure can be revised by JEECUP.

JEECUP 2026 Cutoff & Merit — What Decides Your Seat

  • Seat allotment is purely based on JEECUP 2026 Rank + Choices Filled + Category + Real-time Seat Availability — the cutoff is not pre-fixed, it emerges after each round based on actual demand
  • A high-demand Government Polytechnic in a city like Lucknow/Kanpur will have a very tight closing rank
  • A private, self-financed college in a less sought-after location can have a closing rank of 2–3 lakh or beyond
  • Category-wise qualifying cutoff for 2026 was released along with Round 1 result on 1 July 2026 — official Round 3 closing ranks (institute + branch wise) are published along with the allotment result itself
  • Filling maximum number of choices in order of genuine preference significantly improves chances of getting a seat in earlier rounds itself

What If You Don’t Get a Seat in Round 3?

  • Don’t worry — candidates who did not receive any seat in Round 3 automatically remain eligible for Round 4
  • Round 4 choice filling opens 27–29 July 2026 and, importantly, opens up to candidates from other states too — increasing competition slightly but also opening more seat combinations
  • Re-evaluate your college/branch preferences realistically based on Round 1–3 closing ranks before filling Round 4 choices
  • Consider adding more private/self-financed institute options if government seats are proving difficult at your rank
