Key Exam Guidelines:

  • Intimation of exact exam date & time will be sent by BFSI SSC via email to all fee-paid applicants

  • Except for PwBD candidates, no other person is allowed near the candidate while attempting the online exam
  • Candidates must score a minimum aggregate percentage (as decided by the Bank); SC/ST/OBC/PwBD get a 5% relaxation on this cut-off
  • No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual subjects — only the aggregate cut-off matters
  • Merit list is prepared based on aggregate marks; in case of a tie, the senior candidate (by age) ranks higher

Complete Selection Process 2026

  • Stage 1 — Online Written Examination: Objective type test (100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes) covering General/Financial Awareness, English, Quant & Reasoning, and Computer/Subject Knowledge
  • Stage 2 — Test of Local Language: Conducted during Document Verification; candidates must be proficient in the local language of the applied state (reading, writing, speaking, understanding). Exempted if 10th/12th mark sheet shows the specified language was studied
  • Stage 3 — Document Verification / Personal Interaction: Physical verification of original documents at a Bank-designated centre; candidates attend at their own expense
  • Stage 4 — Medical Fitness Certification: Final engagement is subject to being declared medically fit by a Bank-appointed practitioner or via MBBS certification
  • Final Selection: Merit-based, subject to reservation rules, qualifying the local language test, and satisfactory document/character/caste verification

  • First, complete registration on the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in) OR the NAPS portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) before applying to IOB — you’ll need your NATS/NAPS Enrolment Number for the IOB form
  • Visit the application portal — beep.bfsissc.com (or www.iob.bank.in careers page, which redirects here)
  • NATS-registered candidates: Log in at nats.education.gov.in using your user ID and password, then go to “Apply against advertised vacancies” and select Indian Overseas Bank

Important Terms & Conditions of Apprenticeship

  • Apprentices are NOT treated as employees of IOB and are not entitled to regular employee benefits
  • Bank has no obligation to offer regular employment to apprentices during or after the training period
  • Candidates must NOT have undergone apprenticeship earlier (in IOB or any other organisation) or have 1+ year of job/training experience after graduation
  • No reservation or eligibility for Ex-Servicemen / Disabled Ex-Servicemen in this apprentice engagement
  • Training hours will match those applicable to the Bank’s Clerical staff
  • Apprentices get 1 day Casual Leave per month (12 days/year total); maximum 4 days leave can be availed at a time; no other type of leave applies
  • Unauthorised absence beyond entitled leave is treated as Leave Without Pay, with proportionate stipend deduction
  • No provision for Transport, Hostel, or any residential accommodation during the training period
  • At the end of the 1-year training, apprentices undergo a final assessment; an Apprenticeship Certificate is issued based on performance
  • Apprenticeship contract can be terminated early for unauthorised absence, poor performance, misconduct, or actions prejudicial to the Bank’s interest

EWS (Economically Weaker Section) — Key Conditions

  • Applicable to candidates not covered under SC/ST/OBC reservation, with family gross annual income below ₹8 lakh (all income sources combined, for the financial year prior to application)
  • Excluded from EWS if family owns: 5+ acres agricultural land, 1000+ sq. ft. residential flat, 100+ sq. yards residential plot (notified municipalities), or 200+ sq. yards plot (other areas)
  • Property/assets held by the family across different locations are clubbed together for this test
  • Requires an Income & Asset Certificate from a Competent Authority, valid for FY 2026-27, in the prescribed Government format
  • EWS seats are tentative and subject to further Government of India directives / litigation outcomes

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) — Eligible Categories

  • OC (Orthopedically Challenged): Includes Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Muscular Dystrophy, Acid Attack Victims, Spinal Deformity/Injury (Locomotor Disability)
  • VI (Visually Impaired): Blindness (visual acuity <3/60 or field of vision <10°) or Low Vision (visual acuity up to 6/18 or field of vision up to 40°–10°)
  • HI (Hearing Impaired): Deaf (70dB+ hearing loss) or Hard of Hearing (60–70dB hearing loss) in both ears

Reasons for Disqualification / Action Against Misconduct

  • Using unfair means during any stage of the selection process
  • Impersonation or procuring impersonation by another person
